Investigation on Convection Heat Transfer Augment in Spirally Corrugated Pipe

A numerical simulation on the heat transport augmentation and flow drag behavior of spirally corrugated pipes was performed. The conducted basis experimental results documented in published literature. influence thread height pitch hydraulic–thermal performance as well mechanism convection development inside pipe were explored. It discovered that elevates Reynolds number region 4000~13,000 rises or enlarges, but it declines when extends. marked by Nusselt could reach 2.77 times plain pipe, while resistance coefficients are 89~324% above pipe. enlarges with rise extension pitch. also reduces enlarges. factors overall transmission for all 1.00, they increase 4000~7000 then decrease 7000 to 13,000. secondary at cross-sections vortex between two adjacent grooves basic causes promotion pipes. near wall both disrupts border layer boosts radial interfusion fluid. In addition, existence vortexes makes act continuously positively close wall.
